[{"fields": {"is_featured": true, "dir_size": 3520, "igdata": "science project demo building an earthquake vibration table building an isolated foundation. hello. my name is lindsey and welcome to my grade 6 science project. i created this ignitable to show you how i built a working model of an isolated house foundation that can be used to reduce earthquake damage. enjoy! first, i built a vibration table to create a fake earthquake. here i used legos to create a frame. then i added wheels... to the structure at each corner... now, i took a pvc pipe and with my dad's help i cut it into four little ramps... ...with a hand saw as shown here. then i glued the ramps to the earthquake vibration table with a hot glue gun. if this were a real house, these ramps would be cemented into the ground. the reason we glued the ramps to the vibration table is to create a small example of the earth moving. here is the completed vibration table. now we will build the foundation of the house. once completed, the foundation will need small wheels that will move inside the ramps. here i am locating the wheels inside of the ramps. notice that gravity is locating the tiny wheels at the bottom of the ramps. here is the completed foundaion sitting on the vibration table. now, i am cutting out the floor to build the rest of my house on. here i am using the glue gun to fasten the floor. finally, i am building my log cabin using lincoln logs. here... ...and here. ta-daa!!!! my complete earthquake free log cabin. notice again that gravity is centering the small wheels of the house inside of the ramps. therefore when we shake the vibration table back and forth, the house stands almost still. i hope you enjoyed this ignitable! <br/>", "overdue_email_after": false, "fail_retake": false, "keywords": "Eathquake, Isolation, Science, Project", "fail_action": "", "notification_email": false, "access_token_redemption_count": 0, "completion_type": "", "title": "Science Project - Isolated House Foundation", "overdue_email_after_text": null, "encoded_id": "62N4DP3pKB", "is_viewed": true, "overdue_days_email": false, "parent_id": null, "private_views": 0, "fail_email_text": null, "status": "active", "sharing": "public", "description": "Hello.
